Overnight ride to Pismo Beach
Leave Santa Monica (1 & 15) at 8:30 am on Saturday November 5. Head out PCH and up the coast, stopping in Solvang (6) for a short break, and then heading into Jalama Beach (7) for Lunch. After enjoying one of their fine hamburgers, we'll hop back on the bikes for a ride up Hwy 1 through Lompoc, and ending up in Pismo Beach at the local Motel 6 (8).
Sunday we will be riding at 9am, heading down the 101 for a ride into the Santa Barbara Wine country. Stopping at a winery from the movie Sideways, Firestone Vineyards (10) for refreshments and a break. Leaving Firestone we will continue out Foxen Canyon Road until we hit the 154 taking that great road until we reach Santa Barbara where we will again jump on the 101 past the town of Carpenteria where we will get on the 150 and head into the town of Ojai for lunch at the famous Deer Lodge (12).
After a hearty lunch, we will ride through the twistys of the 150 through Santa Paula, and out the 126 through Fillmore until we reach the 5 freeway.
At this point it is all freeway home.

If you haven't ridden a 200+ mile day that included twistys, maybe this ride isn't for you.
Gas stops are planned at least every 130 miles
Santa Monica to Santa Ynez (120 miles)
Santa Ynez to Pismo Beach (108 miles)
Pismo Beach to Ojai (130 miles)
Ojai to Santa Monica (90 miles)
At $3.20 a gallon, 40 miles per gallon, the cost of gas on this trip should be about $35.
