Oceanside Ride with Doug
December 28-30
Doug and I got up early on Thursday morning the 28th of December for
the last long ride of the year. First thing however, we had to attach
the latest chrome bling that I bought him for Christmas, a front fender
rail.
After that was complete, we were on our way. We headed out
the 23 to
the 101 because the winds where going at about 45 mph across the
valley, and that would allow us to ride around that part. We hopped on
to the 210 and got off at 57 and headed down to Cooks Corner for a
brief stop. From there we went to Hells Kitchen in Elsnore for Lunch.
Doug loved the place, he food was great and it wasn't very crowded on a
Thursday afternoon. After lunch we rode down the 15 to the 76 and
headed towards Oceanside to check into our hotel. We kicked back there
for a little while then we decided to ride down the 101 and find a
place to eat. We ended up at Robbies, a very nice place. From there we
rode back up along the coast until we found a place called Coyotes that
had music playing. So we stopped in there for some warm coffee and to
enjoy the music.
Friday morning, up again- but not too early, we rode out to Julian for
Breakfast/Lunch. It was a nice leisurely ride- most of the way behind
slow moving cars. But it was a nice ride nevertheless. After lunch, we
rode down to Barona Casino to try our hand at winning a few bucks- Doug
ended up losing $80 and I ended up winning about $200- so it wasn't
that bad of a trip. From there we rode to San Diego Motorcycle World to
check out their equipment. After drooling on other bikes we rode to
Seaport Village in San Diego to hang out for a few hours and have
dinner. While we were there we also bought hats, black leather cowboy
hats. We looked very cool... at least that is what we believe. After a
great dinner and conversation- good Dad/Son bonding experience.... we
cruised up the 101 the LONG way via the GPS on my bike and ended up
going to play pool. I believe that Doug saw his talent in playing pool
was genetic. :) From there, back up the coast to Coyotes again for more
great music.
Saturday morning, Doug had to be home early to drive up to Stockton for
the weekend and New Years with some college buddies, so we got on the
bikes at 7:30 and rode up the 5 to the 405, we made it to the valley at
about 9:40- no traffic and had a great time. We said out good-byes and
Doug rode the rest of the way to Palmdale and I rode home to Simi
Valley. It was a great trip...
