Bev and I left mid morning on Friday
November 24 out towards Palmdale to meet up with Doug and head on out
to Bishop for the weekend. That day was also Doug's 25th birthday. So
after giving him his Birthday presents, we all hopped on our bikes and
headed out the 14 to the 395 to Bishop. Bev and I both have family in
town, Bev's sister Gayla's family and my brother Mike and his family.
When we arrived we checked into our hotel and went to Gayla's house to
visit. We all had a nice time, the last time we were there was for
Gayla's funeral.
Saturday we got up and rode to the edge of town to visit with my nephew
Jake. My brother Mike and the rest of his family were not home this
weekend, so Doug hung out with Jake for a few hours while Bev and I
rode back into town so Bev could visit with her sister.
After a nice lunch at Schaats Bakery, we rode back up the Mikes house
and hung with Jake for a while, then Doug decided that he wanted to get
a new tail light for his bike, it had burnt out a few weeks before. So
off to Napa we rode. Jake followed us in his car. Once there Doug
bought the light, and then checked his oil level... it was low, so we
had to ride to Kragen to buy some motorcycle oil. It took a whole
quart! This trip was becoming Doug's maintenance ride.... more to come
:)
Saturday night we went to a local pizza parlor to watch the ND/USC
football game. Gayla's husband John and their kids all showed up
to join us too. That was fun. Doug also had more bonding time
with his Cousin..
Sunday morning we got up for the ride home, and had plans to meet up
with my brother Mike and the rest of his family 1/2 way. It was about
22 degrees in Bishop that morning, and Doug's Marauder would not start.
It was still on the original battery from 2002, and it had finally
died. Luckily, the Napa store was right across the street and they do
carry motorcycle batteries. We went over and bought it and then
installed it and the bike start right up. Off we rode to meet up with
Mike.
We met them and 1/2 way home, and had a nice lunch with them. Following
lunch they told us the holiday traffic was backed up so we decided to
take a alternate route home, it added about 50 miles to our ride, but
that doesn't matter. We ended up riding out the 178 towards Lake
Isabella. An awesome ride and great weekend and Doug got the
maintenance to his Marauder that it needed!
